wondering if that 42 deck is on front or back? -- if its on front that must be weird pushing it with rear of deck hitting grass blades "backwards" ?

It is set up to be towed.   You can see the tow bar in the second pic.    It actually looks like it is well made with a 12HP electric start Briggs.

Except that it appears to lack height adjustment, it looks like a light duty brush-hog. What did it go for?

Yep, the height is fixed.   I would have used longer angle and mounted the fronts on the same angle as the rears.   It would have been a simpler and stronger design.

 

Sold for $25.    A cheap running 12Horse electric start Briggs.

Good point. Relying on the deck shell for structure is less than ideal.

$25 for a running electric start engine isn’t bad.
