Keaton 433 #1 Posted September 8 I believe yesterday I got a 1972 wheel horse safari with k.335-1t engine, it has electric and pull start and I was wondering if anyone had a wiing dighram because I have no idea how to wire it I believe it has a 8 pring switch or a 7 prong, whichever one wheel horse put in some tractors but I think I'll mess with it today. and anyone know that the 2 levers go I know the right one is throttle, what is the left one, belt tensioner? @stevebo I was looking at old forms and you have or had one, any help would help, thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Keaton 433 #6 Posted September 8 anyone got a electric start wheel horse 335 safari, if so can you send me a picture of the wiring and what is a rectifier I have the 2 big cables I just need 2 from the rectifier and one from the keyswich, anything helps and one of the coils I think behind the flywheel were a bit messed up, I think its fine and do I need battery power to get spark, I cant fugure it out I want to hear it run, and I got a free trailer I want to turn into a snow mobile trailer Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,040 #7 Posted September 8 All the diagrams posted show an M on the ignition switch for magneto ignition so no battery power is required by the ignition. Magneto ignition is self-powered and requires no battery power. If any battery power enters the ignition wire that will release the magic smoke so be careful. With the ignition wire not connected to anything it will run. To stop the ignition the wire is simply grounded to the chassis. The correct ignition switch with an M terminal will do that for you proving the switch body is grounded. Here is where you still need help because I don't know. The flywheel stator produces AC (alternating current) and the battery requires DC (direct current) so I suspect the rectifier has diodes that block 1/2 of the AC current produced leaving you with DC current that charges the battery. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this rectifier will chime in. You can isolate the charge wires from the stator so they do not short and run the engine with the ignition wire not connected to anything. Ground that wire to the chassis to stop the ignition.
