Dgilmored 2 #1 Posted September 7 I recently acquired a c165, model 16k801. Its in very good condition accept for the wiring. I installed a new battery but no crank with the key. i crossed the terminals at the solenoid which cranked the engine with no start. There is no spark at the points. At this point I want to sort out the wiring. I found a wire diagram for a 1981 c165 which should get me going. My issue is the rectifier. The wires coming from the engine are going to a small square box with only two wires. One is a #10, the other a #18. Is this the rectifier? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,070 #2 Posted September 7 There was a 2-wire regulator used. Look close and one of the AC wires from the stator is connected to the DC+ regulator output. Clean and tighten ALL electrical connections including grounds. Amp meters sometimes cause this type of problem, connect both of the wires going to the amp meter to one another (bypassing the meter). Dgilmored 2 #7 Posted September 7 There was a real spaghetti mess of wire. I'm going to get it back to basics, by passing all the safety switches and asseories for now just to get it running.
