mower deck pulley problem.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just got what i believe to be a 1997 toro wheelhorse 314 hydro.  The main deck pulley is trashed...I am in Canada and looking for part # and where to buy.  Thanks!

The damage there seems to indicate that the bearings might also be trashed, allowing the spindle shaft to slide downward and the bottom lip of the pulley to ride on the mounting bolts.

@RuedaDelCaballo  yup that pulley has been showing it self for a while , that rubber belt debris, pulley  # 110 148, probably bearing is trashed also . bearing spindles commonly fail due to lubrication failure / heat / stress . if you were to replace those , be a good idea , to clean out and re grease those new spindles with a hi temp /  polyurea grease , rated for  550 - 570 deg drop point , lucas chassis  grease , would also do over the mule  drive bearings , and pto cone bearings , 12 in all , only outside pto cone bearing , metal sealed available at NAPA , inner bearing is a fine needle bearing , clean out , lightly lube with the hi temp grease . do a close deck inspection on that also , been vibrating a long time . its showing you that ,  nothing sarcastic , just what its showing . pete

:text-welcomeconfetti:Looks like the guys have you headed in the right direction.

Nice looking tractor and deck

Give it some TLC and it will last a long time

Lots of friendly help here!

The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask.

Thanks for the pictures.

Now we want pictures of the repair.

:wwp: Were like little children when it comes to pictures!

Thanks! I ordered some parts and a new belt from the local toro dealer and will go over the deck.  I just hauled this rig home so I'll have to give it a good going over.  Thanks for the advice, I'm off to a good start!

Nice looking tractor. 314-H is a real capable worker and this one doesn’t look like it’ll need too much work to start being useful.

And thanks for the pictures! :)

if you plan to use that rear discharge mower deck on that hydro tractor be aware the grass discharge will get on the underneath of the rear end of tractor and attach itself to the hydro fins thus negatively effecting its possible cooling -- suggest you be sure to clean off underneath rear of tranny after each mow on regular basis - you may want to consider adding deflector to the rear of deck -- your choice  - just an idea to deflect clipping downward but you will still have some accumulate on tranny -  i use wall kick plate vinyl that has natural curve plus a curled lip - i use carriage bolts with the rounded heads underneath so they do not get damaged

@RuedaDelCaballo, great moniker! "Rudy" is a c-160 Frankenstein in my small stable, short for Rueda Cabello. Nice!
