Transmission gets stuck in two gears when driving it

Would I just need the new updated shifter rails or do I need the pin that is posted in the picture was also wondering if the ball on the end of the shifter would make a difference if it was worn down?

In response to your PM last night Scott.

I can't really see the condition of the inner teeth on your 3523 gear. Here's a NOS and a somewhat worn gear.

You could make a 3/4" stop pin if you had to. Just get it precise.

Another thing you need to do during assembly. Put it in 3rd gear and just let the stops hold it there. Check the input pulley for any in/out play. There should be zero. If there is any it means the 3523 is separating that much from the input gear. If there is figure how much and shim behind the gear before you insert it in the case. It's a pain because you have to assemble things then undo them only to reassemble again but it's worth it. :)

They are in post #3. They go in from the front of the case. See parts #33, 34, 35. With the 2nd/3rd rail in place (the rear most rail) you insert a 1/4" ball, then the stop pin with the spring, then another 1/4" ball. Be careful as the balls can drop into where the 1st/reverse rail goes. Now the tricky part. Hold the  assembly (2 balls, spring and pin) compressed as you slide the other rail in place. The 1/4" balls are at the hardware store . Simple as that. 🙂20240926_163740.jpg.ec6d76e5b8ada7ac386440f8bcb1c9b2.jpg

Would you know the length of the 3/4 stop pins they are not available anywhere I was thinking of getting a piece of 3/4 round bar and cutting them to length

The pins are 3/4" long. The diameter is, I believe 1/8" but I'd have to verify that. I can do that tomorrow.

Anybody here have an extra 3/4" pin they can part with?

Just one pin as per the drawing I posted. Yes, there are several vendors here as well as individuals selling stuff.

Cut a stainless steel #6 finishing nail to the 3/4" length.  That will work for you.  Make sure you have good blunt ends on the stop.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

So the length Of the new stop pin for the new  rails is 3/4 would it be the same diameter round as what is in there now just longer correct?

Go back and read the service bulletin I posted. The #6 finishing nail that Steve mentioned will work. He knows these transmissions. So once again. Get a #6 stainless finishing nail, cut it precisely to 3/4" and use it.

The parts 33-34-35 are not even in the transmission I just looked and I can’t find the spring on line any help with the type of spring that is in there is really appreciated. Also I don’t see how it would stay in there without falling out.

The spring, stop and detent balls go between the 2 rails.  The rails hold those parts in place.

Ok when I looked in the hole from the outside I don’t see anything so I guess if I take the rails out that’s when they will come out so it won’t be easy putting the parts in and the rails then ?

Check out this video...shows how this goes together.  If your rails are stilll in place, the detent balls, spring and stop are still in there.

While this is not your trans, the process is the same as yours.
