Had very high water due to heavy rains further north. It did affect our cruise. Sounds like your trip is going to plan.
Handy Don 12,204 #7 Posted September 4 19 hours ago, SylvanLakeWH said: s that 2 hours on the autobahn or 2 hours on a According to Waze by car. @Tractorhead lives in a rural farming area, though, so licensed tractors on the road are not at all unusual! Only part of the trip is on an autobahn and only parts of those are “open” speed. Waze assumes 120 kph (~75mph?) for the Bahn’s “open” parts and the posted limits on the rest. There are signs along the open sections suggesting “130 ist genug” (130kph is enough). During my invulnerable age, I averaged about 135 from Wien to München with a brief spurt up to 180.

Tractorhead 9,064 #9 Posted September 5 Btw about speed limits. in Cities mostly 50km/h ...some Cities reduces all traffic down to 30 Km/h... 🤐🤫🤪 😎 With a normal Car on Landstrasse ( outside of Cities) are allmost 80 Km/h if there is no other speedlimit Sign you can go up to 100Km/h. with an RV just 80 Km/h The Sign for Landstrasse is If you see this Sign, all limitation ends If you see this Sign you go on the Autobahn. it depends if it is restricted or not. if it is not restricted you can go as fast your car was able to go or as fast as your personal skill allows you to drive comfy. RV over 3,5 To are restricted to 100 Km/h Trucks to 80Km/h but most running 90Km/h. ( Btw. Everywhere in Germany We have allready a suggested Driving Speed about 130Km/h since the fourties or fifties, but that is just a suggestion that was made in a timeline where most Cars wasn‘t able to reach that speed) 🤣 That is the reason we have no real Speed Limitation except the electronic Speed Traffic regulation.
Gregor 4,846 #10 Posted September 19 Hey Tractorhead, I hope you are not involved in all the flooding happening in Europe right now. Apparently we took our vacation at the right time. The Danube is at going crazy. We would have had to cross Euope by bus. as no cruise boats can go at this time. Are you near a river?
Tractorhead 9,064 #12 Posted September 19 Hi Gregor, no we are far from Donau away. here we just have now 3 more Ponds in the Green than „normally“ in our Valley exists. We had here some Rain the last 3 Weeks, someday‘s with definitely lot‘s of Water up to 100l/ a squaremeter. But damages here not be that much luckily. Just two basements at the neighbours running full with water but we pumped them out the last day‘s. One of our Neighbour told me, that this is not a complete unknown scenario. He remembers that his dad told him in his youth that his Grand Grandfather has several times lot’s of troubles with hard Rain. That was a reason the older buildings didn‘t have a Basement. Just the newer Building have a Basement but it‘s so built that he can evacuate things quickly in remember to that Story. He can look back on a history for more as 150years, handed over from generation to generation. ( that’s a 50 years more than they collect any Weather datas here) So it‘s not completely unknown here, it’s just a little out of the most peoples memories they live actual here. It appears a lot‘s of things being forgotten if they don‘t happen within more than a hundret years. 2
