peter lena 8,634 #7 Posted August 29 @hotajax just curious , that wheel cotter pin on a W/H often relates to a very sloppy wheel to spindle end fit . personally , getting some matching inner shims to eliminate side , shucking / slamming and also hand re greasing the bearings , has eliminated wheel issues for me , also a good time to lift front end , and lube spindles and axel center mount pin , add a vinyl top cover to spindle . went after every related movement spot , steering shaft base , back of dash support , solid / smooth . just a suggestion , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

With two different sizes, I can put together any combination of shims to get the thickness I need to eliminate free play. Are there two sets of bearings in each wheel? peter lena 8,634 #10 Posted August 30 @hotajax agree with @ri702bill / bearings another thing about those bearings , if they have the wide rubber side grease shields , easily removed with a thin pocket screwdriver or flat putty knife , no damage to removed seal , wipe out original grease , carb cleaner flush , like a hi temp / stress grease, lucas chassis , make it a bombproof roller bearing set up . I know , cleaning out new grease in new bearing ? lubrication / bearing failure is all over these tractors , have also done the same on all my mower decks / pto drive bearings , imagine , NO WHYINING BEARING NOISE ? thats how much of an improvement the correct grease makes , by the way , my pto lever engagement does not , scream / squeal , because all related bearings move easily . just a heads up on bearing function , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
