69' GT-14 rewire

Recommended Posts

My wiring is in pitiful shape, I've got rub throughs on the insulation, speaker wire, all kinds of great stuff. Key switch appears to be Craftsman. Battery leaks down when off. Will be doing lots of work on the old girl this week. Will be checking accessory and light switches for function as well as the PTO.

Have ordered red, yellow, orange, white, and black 16ga wire. Also ordered a new ignition switch and inline fuse. Heavier gauge wire will be sourced locally if needed.

Will be using this schematic:

Any thoughts or warnings?

953 nut

I would eliminate the amp meter and put a volt meter in tis place (did that on mine), just connect it to the "L" terminal on the ignition switch. I also added a 30 amp fuse to the line from the battery/solenoid connection to the ignition switch to protect the wiring.

Be sure your engine is indeed a breakerless ignition as noted… and not points.  :handgestures-thumbupright:
