Briggs and Stratton motor started turning really hard

Recommended Posts

Keaton

im trying to finish my project up and I got the drive belt on and it went to go start it and it ran last night and I pulled it a bit this morning and I went to pull it and it would not turn over, I look it back in and took the plug out and same thing, it turns so hard it probably takes 50 lbs of force for it to move a small bit, any ideas it did this once before, something internal? thanks- Keaton

Does it turn OK from the pulley side.   I'm thinking a jammed pull rope.

I just did, I am just battling my own stupidity but, I took the tensioner pulley off and I think the pulley was hanging up because I think the belt guide got bent up and was tight against the pulley so I bent that around quick i did not have time to put the pulley back in but I think that belt gaurd pice was the problem thank you everyone for the help -Keaton

Have you applied a few drops of oil to the bushing in the recoil starter? The square part the goes over the crankshaft has the crankshaft turning inside all the time when running. There is a small hole in the end of the drive provided for the application of oil. You will see it as soon as you remove the fan shroud.
