jeff lary 171 #1 Posted August 24 I have a 2000 42" 3 blade deck and I, need to replace the spindles. The deck is of course missing the info tag, but I have written down that it is a Model is 78345 and serial no. is 200000252. I have bought blades in the past using the mower blade number of 106077 and have always had a great fit. But to be honest trying to look up which spindles I would need gets overwhelming fast I cannot seem to find the spindles I need to buy there are a sea of them it seems. I have not removed them from the deck yet, so I don't know what type of keyway if any they use. Does anyone know what I need to look for, for the correct spindles? Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance, Jeff

daveoman1966 3,752 #5 Posted August 24 Take the TOP NUT off of the left/right pulley...you can see if there is a keyway or not. OR---if the spindle shaft is 5/8" dia---NO KEYWAY. If 3/4" dia---has a keyway. The blade end of ALL the spindle shafts are 3/4" dia.
jeff lary 171 #6 Posted August 24 I ordered the parts today, I was going to get 3 new spindles but the old dealership could only order the bearings and shaft ( the shaft is the issue) the 2 bearing and shaft will be $105.00. So likely over $300 for all three that is more than i want to spend on it. Plus I needed a stump jumper for a Befco brush hog we bought at their place 10 years ago. That was $250.00 for that, I am going to fix the mower and put it up for sale. I think I want a zero turn, something new.
jeff lary 171 #7 Posted August 29 A thank you to Lynnmor and File Mod for the help the other day, I was looking for some parts but later decided that I was just going to buy something new, Well I have since then decided that maybe I will buy some new parts and run this one some more. After going to the Toro site and finding the correct part numbers I was then able to go out to eBay and buy some new stuff. I bought 3 completely assembled replacement spindles a new deck belt and a new transmission drive belt. I do realize that the replacement spindles will not last as long as the oem but they were lots more affordable. I still may get something new maybe next summer who knows, but buying new now means my warranty will be slowly going away while the new mower sits in the shed all winter. If I do buy new it will be in the spring so that I can run it all next summer at least before it sits for 4 months. Thank you all I do appreciate it.
