hotajax 223 #1 Posted August 23 (edited) I saw some Zerks on ebay that were called "thread forming" zerks. Are these for sloppy female threaded holes on the wheel? If not, what are they used for? Question 2: What size are cotter pins that go through the end of the spindle to hold the wheel on? This is for a 314-8. Question 3: What is the assembly order on the spindle and working out? Just want to make sure I get it right. Are the shims the LAST thing on the spindle before the cotter pin? Thanks. Lee1977 6,682 #2 Posted August 23 The " tread forming " sound like some that would not work.. You need a good 1/4" fine tread tap to get good treads for the zerks. I think they are 1/8" There is usually a washer behind the wheel and another just behind the cotter key. The shims would go behind the outer washer. There shouldn't be any side to side movement of the wheel as that will ware the spindle. 1
hotajax 223 #3 Posted August 23 (edited) Thanks, looks like I'm missing a washer. Care to guess on cotter pin size? Edited August 23 by hotajax
