Hello again everyone from Spain, have any of you installed an electronic regulator for our Delco Temy dyna star tractors?

Are you referring to your 702 with the Starter / Generator??

You can download the service manual for the Delco Voltage Regulator for free. It is in English but I hope this will provide the information you need. You may be able to find the same manual in Spanish on the internet,

Puede descargar el manual de servicio del regulador de voltaje Delco de forma gratuita. Está en inglés, pero espero que esto le proporcione la información que necesita. Es posible que puedas encontrar el mismo manual en español en Internet.

Hello everyone, today I did a check with the voltmeter between the terminals of the dynamo and accelerating fully increases only 1 volt. Previously it worked but now when I start it after 1 year stopped it does not charge. I understand that if the motor function works The dynamo should be fine, is this true? What could go wrong?

Since I have had the tractor, the only thing I noticed is that sometimes it is not able to overcome the compression of the engine and to start it I have to turn the crankshaft pile by hand until the compression expires so that the engine function of the dynamo has inertia.

The brushes and springs in the starter may be too worn to get the job done. Also, read thru the pdf files I sent about polarizing the charging system. You need to "teach" it which direction to flow current to charge........

The Starter/Generator has power applied to the armature during starting function therefor polarization is not required.

No,   there are two sets of windings, one for starting and one for charging.

Be sure your battery cables are in good condition and move your ground cable connection to one of the bolts on the S/G itself.

Here is part of a long article about S/G voltage regulators.

Troubleshooting Charging:

1. With the engine running more than half throttle, measure the voltage at the A terminal, it should be 13 to 14.5 volts.  If it is 12.5 or less, ground the F terminal, if the voltage goes up to 13 to 14.5, most likely the problem is the regulator. Other possibilities are the wire from the F terminal to the voltage regulator, and the ground on the regulator not being good.  If the voltage at the A terminal is 14.5 to 17 volts when you ground the F terminal, the regulator cut-out section is probably not connecting the A terminal to the battery.  If the unit is measuring 13 to 14.5 volts at the A [without an external ground applied to the F terminal] terminal, the voltage measured at the battery should be within .1 or.2 volts of the voltage measured at the A terminal, if it is the system is working correctly

Thanks friend, I'm going to do those tests and I'll send you the results. Are there still new generators? thank you.

Many other manufacturers used a starter/generator on Kohler engines. Cushman Motor scooters remain popular in the USA and new Starter/Generator units for them will fit your Wheel Horse. When you are looking at new Starter/Generators do not buy one for a Cub Cadet, they rotate the opposite direction of what you need.

Thank you for answering so quickly and sharing your knowledge. I will carry out the checks and will keep you informed. If I have to change the generator, I will take your advice into account.

Hello everyone, fault solved, after checking by measuring voltage at terminal A it gave me hardly any volts, then I put a bridge from terminal F to ground and it gave me good voltage, I checked the connections and although terminal A seemed to be fine when I released it it had a lot of rust on the bottom, once cleaned it charged perfectly, I want to thank this forum for the help you offer even to people from other countries. Thank you very much!
