I know about Rotella and Kohler oil.  Are there other brands out there?  Plain old straight weight 30 oil.  Not trying to turn this into a "best oil" discussion.  Thanks.

I use Kinetix because it's inexpensive, delivered to my place, and meets the criteria we need.

If not for that I'd likely go to the above mentioned Rotella.

Yup - Rotella conventional oil, not synthetic.

NAPA carries several brands:  Their own brand, Valvoline, Pennzoil, Shell/Rotella, ..., whatever's your pleasure.

Tractor Supply is the best as far as I'm concerned, auto parts stores don't carry much in straight 30 because cars don't use it,  but tractors do.

Almost every brand of oil will have an SAE-30.

There are only a few companies that bottle the stuff in the US. They just brand the bottles for the others.

We have that here in Michigan, too.  I've never used the 30W variety, but their 15W40 is great stuff.  Many of us who use store brand oils (region dependent) are using Amalie bottled oils (Wolf's Head).

TSC did have HD SAE 30 Traveller brand with a SJ rating, just right for our gasoline engines.  I still have some, but the new flavor may be SN (description on the website is confusing), so you can pour it thru a catalytic converter and put it on your ice cream.  They also have a diesel 30 weight oil if you don't care about having the oil rated for gasoline engines.

About halfway between Harrisburg and Gettysburg.

Napa's own brand is Valvoline or so I was told by the store manager

One of our local Carquest stores was told his Fram oil is Amalie.

How about the Kohler oil with zinc additive designed for their older Kohler engines

As long as its not "sae 30 non-detergent"...sae30 is not terribly common anymore, its disappearing like sae20 did, which used to be pretty easy to find.  Sae30 does still come in diesel flavors in some stores, usually 2.5g jugs, its fine to use diesel oil in gas engines.

This article provides some information for those that want to experiment with using oils that aren't produced for their application.
