hotajax 223 #1 Posted August 12 (edited) I know about Rotella and Kohler oil. Are there other brands out there? Plain old straight weight 30 oil. Not trying to turn this into a "best oil" discussion. Thanks. Edited August 12 by hotajax
ebinmaine 67,496 #2 Posted August 12 I use Kinetix because it's inexpensive, delivered to my place, and meets the criteria we need. If not for that I'd likely go to the above mentioned Rotella.
Mike'sHorseBarn 2,998 #3 Posted August 12 Pennzoil sells SAE 30 and tractor supply has there brand of it too. I use Rotella though. 3

tunahead72 2,412 #5 Posted August 12 NAPA carries several brands: Their own brand, Valvoline, Pennzoil, Shell/Rotella, ..., whatever's your pleasure. 2

adsm08 2,057 #7 Posted August 13 Almost every brand of oil will have an SAE-30. There are only a few companies that bottle the stuff in the US. They just brand the bottles for the others.

I've never used the 30W variety, but their 15W40 is great stuff. Many of us who use store brand oils (region dependent) are using Amalie bottled oils (Wolf's Head). TSC did have HD SAE 30 Traveller brand with a SJ rating, just right for our gasoline engines. I still have some, but the new flavor may be SN (description on the website is confusing), so you can pour it thru a catalytic converter and put it on your ice cream. They also have a diesel 30 weight oil if you don't care about having the oil rated for gasoline engines.

Brockport Bill 1,662 #15 Posted August 15 How about the Kohler oil with zinc additive designed for their older Kohler engines
RED-Z06 2,221 #16 Posted August 16 As long as its not "sae 30 non-detergent"...sae30 is not terribly common anymore, its disappearing like sae20 did, which used to be pretty easy to find. Sae30 does still come in diesel flavors in some stores, usually 2.5g jugs, its fine to use diesel oil in gas engines.
