WHX?? 48,813 #1 Posted August 7 (edited) Possible CL score if we can come to terms. Who am I not to even try on a round hood? Seller says a 653 but not sure. I am leaning towards a 702. Edited August 7 by WHX?? 2
rjg854 11,356 #2 Posted August 7 got to try on that one Jim, with hydraulics even, nice
ri702bill 8,311 #3 Posted August 7 (edited) I'm leaning towards a 753 or 854. (frame & front axle at least), 702 style 1 piece gas tank & cast iron dash, 854 style HY-3 plow / cylinder mount, AND a later style (perhaps 8 speed) Unidrive. The rear track width is rather wide. A "FrankenMutt". And the not-quite-finished 70's aftermarket steering wheel conversion! Look at the color of the Kohler - not OE Wheel Horse.... If it runs well and sold as a package for less than a month's Grocery Bill, then it is worth looking into. Edited August 7 by ri702bill 1 2

I had also initially thought his asking price (700) was abit high but the HY, weights & plow kinda add up. The 7 hr round trip is a kicker tho.

Guy I work with has a camp site up that way and has been fishing Walker Lake all summer. He's found a spot where the cats like to hang out. My son has recently decided that catching a cat is on his bucket list, so I went up to scout and find the spot myself before I take him, since he isn't always the most patient. I was about 20 or 30 feet off the "sweet spot", but I still pulled in a few nice ones. Only kept the biggest one because they can be a pain to clean, but I do like to eat them. 2

Best thing to do with them is cut the tail off and put them on a stringer and toss them back in. they bleed out and the fillets come out white and sweet. Good eats right there... deep fried ... pan fried Cajun... yum. Bonus the blood scent brings in more of them. Smaller ones are good eats too. I don't think they are hard to clean.

I've only ever caught two keepers. I gutted them, cut the heads off behind the skull, and just cooked them whole on the grill. Skin pulls off and you can just pull a fork across them and the meat falls off the bone. There is a creek near me that supposedly has a good number of them, but they only bite after dark, and it's hard to find access to that creek where you won't get in trouble being there after dark. Years ago it wasn't too bad, but now most of the land along the creek has been bought and is somebody's yard. The rest is part of public parks that get gated and locked after dark because teens were causing trouble. The only spot I know for sure I can get to safely and legally after dark is no good for fishing because unless the creek floods the water is never more than 2 inches deep right there. Those creekside homes are loving it until a huge rain dump puts the creek into the basement or the living room. As housing density fills previously sparse locations, it does change the character a lot.

A guy who just quit where I work would talk about how his family built this development or that development in the area and I'd just give him the stink eye and politely remind him that I've been looking for the guys who built those developments so I could kill them for doing so. The hollows around places like Hallstead PA in 2006 got hollowed out but good. Lots of homes lost. The amount of dirt displaced was incredible. Made the efforts of the county conservation districts’ E & S plans seem kind of laughable in comparison.

Heck, I might even have to take up fishing again!
