fourwheelhorseman 279 #1 Posted August 2 Does anyone here remanufacture these? I’m looking for 2 of these mufflers. I done a google search and can’t seem to find any real concrete information. I did see an older thread on this subject, on this site from 2017. here’s what I need. I’d take new or good used.
rjg854 11,359 #2 Posted August 2 You might luck out finding a used muffler, but, these are no longer made. So you can either go for a stack muffler or some other type of muffler.

ri702bill 8,314 #4 Posted August 2 I believe @ebinmaine has dealt with this same issue and uses a "similar", but different muffler........

I've done some different types over the years. I have a nice tall stack on my C160-8 Cinnamon Horse. My 1975 C160 Automatic has a Gravely Style muffler. I've also used IHC Cub mufflers which make an interesting little stack because they have an inlet at the bottom that is 90° from the outlet. That's what's on my C160-8 Tecumseh Horse project I'm working on right now. 5 hours ago, fourwheelhorseman said: mufflers The biggest thing to watch out for is that the early ones such as you are showing have a can diameter that is less than 3"... and the later ones which start around 1978 have a can diameter that is about 3.25". Some folks mount them and do okay but we have had several horses come through our shop that have burnt paint because of clearance issues on the larger can diameter. You wouldn't think that extra half inch makes a big difference but it sure as heck does. I do have a smaller can diameter style Muffler that I would be willing to part with but it needs welding work on the inlet side.

Eric, @ebinmaine I would be interested in one of the smaller can mufflerslike a rusted out one. I would like to have one to see if I could maybe make one similar.

PM me your address and I'll send it down.
