hotajax 223 #1 Posted July 31 The bolts I took out are 2 inches from the top of the head to the shoulder, and then another 3/4 inch of threads.. Do I have 2 inch bolts or 2 3/4 inch bolts?
Ed Kennell 38,200 #2 Posted July 31 (edited) Bolt length is measured from the underside of the head. Shoulder bolt length is from the under side of the head to the shoulder. You probably have 1.5 or 1.75" long shoulder bolts. Edited July 31 by Ed Kennell 3

Note that on some sites, there will be specs for both the shoulder and the threaded parts!
ri702bill 8,327 #5 Posted July 31 For what it's worth - McMaster sells thin shim kits to either lengthen os shorten shoulder bolts a small amount for that "correct" fit ..... Small shims go on the threads at the shoulder (right arrow) to lengthen the bolt, the larger ones go up the shoulder to the underside of the head (left arrow) to shorten it.... A dab of superglue holds them tight.
hotajax 223 #6 Posted July 31 Probably wouldn't be such a big deal if those zircs on the wheel worked OK, instead of having to change the bolt when I forget to grease the wheel.

Do yourself a favor and grease the wheels each time you mow. In addition, grease the three front axle fittings often to prevent excess wear. The rest of the fittings can be done a few times a year.
