Recommended Posts

I got bored today and within a few hours, I had a spring field on the floor that magically fell apart. or that's what I told my dad when he walked in and asked, what the hell is this mess? but I got it apart, and nothing fought me not even the roll pins for once, I got it all apart and pressure washed it and once it was apart and washed I wet sanded and once I got that done I sprayed it with super clean, scrubbed, pressure washed agin then set to the side and repeated that till I was done and I got it apart and cleaned and I will try to have it back together by tommrow I just need to get clear coat, then hang  and clear coat and reassemble, the parts that I did do cleaned up amazing and the frame now that you can see in the pictures is also amazing, the parts there are to have a rolling steering chassis besides the rear wheels I am putting tires on them

@Keaton  done a lot of functional detailing on original intensions , levers / linkage , etc .  more often than not its the simple movement gape end connection area  thats at fault . added washers . red grease , like teflon / poly washers , silicone grease , makes things move / function like magic , thats also a point that a screw on HEIM joint , for solid , smooth angle , transition , is like magic. also related  pulleys , like a red aerosol grease . experiment on what its , saposed to do , you are right there . pete

@peter lena i put red greese on most or all of the moving parts, thats why i had the greese gun sitting there, and thoes sprinfeilds were built to last, at almost any truning point in it there is brass bushings, with most looked good to reuse, one of the spindalls neeeds a good amount of work, what is the best way to fix spindalls(by spindalls I mean what the wheel rides on in the front some get confused)  i just weld and grind to get it as round as i can, or do you have it machined or something? cause i bet you cannot find new ones for it

@Keaton  , spindles are a speciality of mine , love to recover the typical bearing failure , what I would do is to look up all spindles involved , start out by a stamping mark #  , most important detail , is type of bearing , and related side rubber grease shield , wide rubber , is easily VERY CAREFULLY REMOVED , small pocket screwdriver , small flat putty knife , wipe out existing lube , carb cleaner spray clean , repack using LUCAS X HD , CHASSIS GREASE , 550 deg drop point , hi stress . polyurea rated , looks like existing pulleys are small side shield , usually cannot access those , P IA , having bearing hunted , internet search , will give you possible matches with better , bigger bearings , try an initial hunt , as long as it specs out , for match , thats all you need , send me a couple of , pulley #,s  , get you another view , pete
