Hydro lift valve rebuild instructions?

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

1984 Workhorse GT1800 hydro lift valve needs O-rings.

Anything we need to know about disassembly?

How to?

What NOT to do?

Thanks!

There is a screw in the back, remove it and out comes the spool, simple as it gets.  Replace the o-rings on the hose connections, if it has them, while it is out.

Under the acorn nut is the pressure relief valve. No need to mess with that unless there’s a known issue. Recalibrating it requires a hydro pressure gauge and some plumbing bits!

Getting 4 new hoses installed.

All have new Orings.

O-ring material??? Buna-N may have been the original, better to replace with either Viton or HNBR.....

An older service manual than the one above.

@ebinmaine I recently rebuilt the same exact valve with no manual. I purchased a rebuild kit many years ago and finally got around to using it. It’s very simple, just take it apart on a clean surface. The hardest part is getting the valve in and out of the tractor. I loosely threaded in the hydraulic hoses and then bolted it to the tractor. I have the part number for the rebuild kit if you need it.

On reassembly coat the O-Rings with a lite film of grease to help the spool slide through the housing.
