520 tach on Magnum 12

Anyone ever hooked up a tachometer from a 520 to a Magnum 12 ?? Wanting to hook mine up if possible.

Did a better search and looks like I need to run a power and ground to the gauge and a wire from the gray wire on the voltage regulator??

The wire to the regulator goes to one of the AC leads. If it does not work use the other AC lead. Each AC lead has different functions.

Yes.

Remember that tachometers are basically counting electrical impulses and the WH models were spec’d for specific machines based on the number of wire coils in their engine’s stator.

Do some research to confirm that the Kohler Magnum has the same number of coils in its stator as the Onan P220 to be sure you’ll get the correct reading. If they are different, the tach will still work but you’ll have to do the math to convert the displayed RPM to the actual RPM!
