I got this Springfield with my 310-8 and I need help on the engine, year and model, it says Springfield 25 on the hood, Wich is for the 25 inch deck, it is a nice teal blue, transmission shifts good I think it is a peerless, because of the look and shifter cup, no idea about year or engine except it is a Briggs and no idea on the tranny- Thanks, Keaton.

The B&S 130000 series are a 5hp engine.

Your engine was made on July 21 of 1972, according to this year date it may be a replacement engine.

This might help ID the tractor.

Most of the Spingfield 25" mowers I see have a swing handle for steering, yours has an actual steering wheel. I think it may be a late '65 or '66 model??

It has spark now and compression I think I fixed the sticky valuve  letting it soak in pennatrating oil over night, and that’s abad picture of the spark but it’s there and the intake valuve filled with pennatrating oil
