new tractor, 310-8 snowblower tractor

I just got a wheel horse 310-8 tractor with a snowblower, the ultimate show plowing mechine, it has a 42inch snow blower, rear plow mount on it, a cab, wheel weights and chains and lights on the cab, did they come standard with them? and aren't cabs kind of a rare option? and is there any other form of id on the wheel weights than the sticker? I don't have it home yet, I was about 3 hours away at a grandparents house, and went to a auction there. I got that wheel horse for $600 I feel like I got a decent deal.it runs and drives thought all gears something in the back squeaks a bit I think or something does and it has 1400 hours on it.. I will go get it soon.

Looks like the lights were added by the previous owner. Some came with a single light on the top. The glass wind sheild with a wiper was also an option.

Looks like it has the idler pulley for the tiller under the engine.

If so then it may have the rear tach and rear lift as well.

Bonus parts if so.

@Keaton those related idler pulleys are known for noisy / rough failure ,  easily replaced . that cab cover looks starved for anything , 303 BRAND VINYL BOAT PROTECTANT ,  let it soak in . lots of areas to improve on , others will chime in , that blower drive set up , is loaded with slowing drag areas . tractor paint is also starved for care , penetrating oil spray down / soak time will help feed long neglected paint , lots to do , pete

i have not done anything to it yet, once i get it home i will wash it and drive it a bit and try to fugure out whats wrong then start buffing/ clear coating it once i get my rj59 done

 it does not have rear lift, I don't think. and Im not Shure what rear tach is either I will put a picture of the back of it

So to get the rear lift, rear tach and tiller idler is a real bonus.

If you can track down a tiller you are ready to go.

I wonder where the one that was used on this tractor went.

@cleat what kind of tiller do I want, and if I wanted a deck what kind of deck do I get, is the a model or size that I need, I am not good with this 3 seires tractors

sorry again, and on the lift arm they had a pice of conduit hose clamped to the lift arm, I am guessing because the snowblower is so heavy, do I really need that or would it work fine if I took it from the front side of the arm to thr back side of the arm?

There are “lift assist springs” available to help in lifting that snow blower.  The “rear tach” you asked about is the “rear attachamatic” bracket bolted to the rear axle and is needed to attach a push blade/plow or a tiller. Your tractor can use any WH deck made from the late(?) 70s to 2000ish (the 48” and 60” SDs are too bid for your tractor). Any WH blade from the same time period will work for you and likewise tillers.

@dcrage I found a 42 inch deck working that needs new blades for $100 about a hour from me so I may get that.

There are over 20 attachments that can be used. All types of gardening equipment to Mackissic chipper shredders to generators seed/ grass spreaders. It's a big list.

It might be a good idea to trim those wheel weight bolts down.  They can wreck your day in a heartbeat!  You might be able to spin them around and keep the long side inside the wheel too.

A 10hp tractor might not be enough power for a 42" deck. Of course that would depend on the type of grass you're cutting, the length of it, and how thick the lawn is.

@Pullstart I don't have this tractor home yet, im going to get it Friday, it is at a friends house about 3 hours away, I will take them off and get new ones when I get it home

@ebinmaine what attachments did wheel horse make for it, I wanted to get a push plow, deck and a tiller eventually, it would be nice to have, and I plan like my other tractors to patina restore eventually, 4H gets expensive.

@rjg854 that is all I have seen near me so far, I wanted some kind of deck maybe a smaller one for mowing tight spots or a long the treeline mabye

Here's a list of attachments for the early 70s. I'm not sure exactly how many of these would fit your own tractor but this gives you a rough idea what's available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

As far as a mowing deck like you mentioned above. Your best bet might be a 36 wide RD or rear discharge.

 

Your engine will be capable of spinning something wider but as stated by @rjg854 it will introduce a different level of horsepower needed to cut the grass.

This 89 310-8 was sold last September to a RS member at the Meet & Greet minus deck and chrome hubcaps. This was used with a 42'' Side Discharge deck on a well maintained lawn, cut dry and never had any issues. Keep your decks CLEAN.  @Keaton     Good Luck
