cafoose 3,355 #1 Posted July 11 @rmaynard remember the donor for the deck you got from me several years ago? I just pulled it to the shop last evening to check it out so I could try to fit the Mackissic shredder on it that I got from @sqrlgtr Jeff. I removed and lubed the throttle and choke cables and got them moving freely with Kroil. Then I turned the engine by hand and no compression at all. I pulled the head and the valves move normally but the piston doesn't. I heard noises in the crankcase like broken parts. The tag on the engine says it's a short block so It's probably a replacement. The belt guard is bent and nasty looking so I may try to locate another one if I can't straighten it out. I'm thinking the engine I got at the big show in the last year or two from @76c12091520h Brian would be a good choice. Pretty sure this is the engine I got from Brian:
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,074 #2 Posted July 12 24 in the serial was produced by Kohler in 1994. The 7752235 spec number had me stumped but that is the short block part number. https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-77-522-35
Rick3478 428 #3 Posted July 13 If no one objects, I'll put in a shameless plug for the NOS short block I still have for sale in the classifieds. And I'll comment - wow! Wonder how many hours on that tractor. Wore out the original motor, replaced it and ran that one into the ground, too.
