Installing new brake lining

Bought a couple of brake linings from @Maynard at the BS. Below are pics of one I installed today.

As an adhesive, I used Goop All-Purpose adhesive - $6 for 1oz tube, I used half a tube.

1. Laid out the parts (You can see the old damaged lining)

2. Cleaned the new brake lining and inside of the brake band with Zep

3. Squeezed the Goop onto the brake lining (the side with two rivet reset dimples)

4. Spread the Goop with a plastic putty knife

5. Put the new break pad in the brake band and clamped it.
6. Now we wait, 24ish hours

7. Then reinstall

Thx again to @Maynard for these high quality linings.

Thanks for buying my linings, and thanks for the good tutorial. With your permission, I'd like to refer buyers to this when they ask "how to".

Quick question do y'all try and rivet the brake lining also or does goop hold it good enough. Thanks in advance.

The Goop holds it on.

When I did my PTO lining, I used JB Weld. So far so good. Another option.

Brake linings were never riveted on, only bonded with cement. The only rivets in a brake band are those that hold the band (A) to the angle bracket (B)

The clamping method I have used is as follows;  Glue, install the brake band on the tractor, set the parking brake, let it set-up overnight. This method ensures the brake shoe and band are in proper alignment for actual use.    :twocents-02cents:
