osubrutus1 3 #1 Posted June 28 I have a C-175 and have had to replace the cam plate several times over the years. I especially have issues when the tractor is on a hill with a bit of a twist to it, the lever jams because the cam block pin pulls out of the cam block then it is stuck in reverse. the only thing I can do at that point is turn off the tractor. I would appreciate any advice or modifications that would help.

A bad "F" plate equals a bad behaving tractor... does it grunt & groan and wiggle like an inchworm??? Like this one did?????

I don't see how it would be possible for a pin to pull thru the cam plate. Edited June 29 by Ed Kennell
peter lena 8,716 #6 Posted June 29 @osubrutus1 only a suggestion , take advantage of the failure point , get a helper to visibly look things over at that point. would also like to see a related picture to hang up . have seen so many , rusty / crusty . cracked / binding areas . think your twist frame / linkage related set up is your answer. that pin pull out is your lead, sheared bolt / related to twist . another set of eyes , always helps , pete
pfrederi 17,856 #8 Posted June 30 Some early C-175 had Sunstrands. Is that what you have (Tranny filter on right side of transaxle??) If so check for any wiggle in the cross shaft #79 the bushing # 54 maybe worn out. The pic you posted is #77. Any cracks in the plastic slider #60 pic 2

peter lena 8,716 #10 Posted July 2 @osubrutus1 agree with others on possibilities , something you might try is to duplicate the angular twist that starts the problem , couple of floor jacks , also another set of eyes to spot anything being pulled off point . not had to deal with your problem , but REPEDITAVE PROBLEM IS YOUR BEST TRACKING TO IT . expect to change out what's there , often change out a movable linkage failure to a heim joint , thinking a male / female screw in , for strength . smooth action . heim joints come in many types . sizes . just my first thought , they have eliminated problem swivel connections , pete
osubrutus1 3 #11 Posted July 23 SO, originally I checked the bolts and looked at the front side if the plate. When I had more time, I removed the transaxle assembly and found the crack and also that it had been welded before I had it. Can this plate be replaced?
