Day 19

Success! If you haven’t seen my electrical post with the tractor here it is.

Didnt hook up the brake pedal safety so the last 2 weeks of troubleshooting was for no reason 😂. Finally today got it to crank over! Tommorow will hopefully hear it run for the first time! 🤞

Day 20

Urghhhh!!

Something is still messed up. Filled up with fuel and cranked fine the first 2 times. Then went and took off plugs to check for spark. (Both had good spark) Tried to crank again and nothing, Took off plug to ignition switch and took out main fuse. All good. Put back together and cranked fine for another 4 times. Now ready to actually try and start and nothing. Checked plug and looks fine. Checked main fuse and once again blown. Help!! We’re so close!

We finally figured out the wiring gremlins. All we had was 2 wires backwards on the kill relay. Swapped those and she purrs like a kitten!

Those rear tires look nice. I don’t see any mention of what kind they are other than 23x10.50-12. What are they?

Excellent work on your restoration.  The engine sounds great.  Love Briggs twins.

 

I'd like to offer one piece of advice,  please invest in some PPE.  Using a proper full or half face respirator with organic vapor cartridges and disposable nitrile gloves can greatly reduce your chemical exposure.  Also purchase safety glasses and/or a face shield and use them. 

 

Absorption and inhalation are the two primary methods of unintentional chemical ingestion.  I often think about some of the things I did when I was younger and did know better, and I wonder what effect it may have on me in the future.  This is a great hobby, enjoy it safely.

Always. We are very good with that. Whenever drilling, cutting, spraying stuff that’ll burn eyes glasses are always on. Same for gloves. Thanks for looking out!

You're welcome.  I brought up the subject after seeing a couple of pictures of you painting without a respirator.  I wear one whenever I paint, even if there's plenty of ventilation and air movement.  I also use one when cleaning carbs.  Gas vapors, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, etc are not good for you.  People use brake cleaner to kill hornets.  Inhaling that stuff is very bad for you.

 

One of our members blames his cancer on using wood finishing products for years.  I haven't seen him on here in awhile.  I hope he's okay.  Just food for thought

And the effects are often not noticeable until later in life. 

 

I swear I was 25 only last week, but will be 55 next month. It goes by quick!
