Make sure you get the side to side movement as small as possible. 

I have a set of those exact bearings in my Tecumsehorse front wheels. 

They're just a tiny tad loose.  I haven't verified measurements on the spindles but they looked OK.  Not excessively worn.

Use washers to shim it out leaving only a tiny bit of play (1/6”)

So I’m going to need your guys help with this one, This is the original seat to the tractor and I want to use it on the tractor, but it has one small tear or the right side. (See picture) How should I repair it or what should I do? And @ c series don how did you get your seat to look all shiny like that?

Will 10w40 motor oil work for the hydro? Or what should I use? I already have the Napa 1410 filter

10W-30 in the transmission unless the oil that you drain out is pink, indicating transmission fluid. Then use ATF. I believe the Sunstrand transmission used ATF, however I’m no expert on this so someone may correct me. I also think it can run on either one but just don’t mix them. As far as the seat goes I think I may have used that tire shine that I posted earlier in this thread. I used vinyl conditioner first to help soften it up and not be so brittle. The rip in the seat I don’t think is repairable? Maybe some black duct tape to try to stop it from spreading?

Sundstrand after the early 70s used the engine oil.  

My 70 Charger was ATF.

My 75 Automatic is 10w30.

I’ve had good success with Gorilla Tape.

The surface prep is important -- clean, clean, clean with no residue of the cleaner -- I use an alcohol wipe as the final

Pay attention to layout to avoid folds or wrinkles in the tape--this may involve using pieces trimmed to size/shape with sharp scissors. Practice with some paper to figure out the layout of the tape. Also, where overlapping, pay attention to the direction of the overlap so that sliding onto or off of the seat won’t be catching the edge of the tape.

I also have removed the edging on the seat before taping so that the edging holds the end of the tape--it is a bit of a job to get the edging back on, but it is doable.

If you do remove the edging, you get the chance to put tape on the underside of the black plastic cover which majorly strengthens the patch. Go ahead and put some tape underneath vulnerable places where it hasn’t ripped yet!

Know that the adhesive on Gorilla Tape (unlike inexpensive duct tape) cures once exposed to air. So after getting a piece off the roll, give it 10 or 20 seconds in open air before putting it on the seat and work hard to keep fingers out of the adhesive -- I use tweezers and forceps cleaned with alcohol wipes to handle the tape.

A friend gave me this Tip.

He is a professional in repair and reconditioning of old Car Seats for Porsche and BMW.

I asked him because of the Transit Seats what to Do on a cost effective site

 

They have a vinyl repair set what should work perfectly.

Until now i never tried myself, but he showed me a seat what he reworked with their Products.

The result was very impressive.

He told me you just have to Work exactly like their suggestions to get good results.

3m makes a vinyl repair kit. It includes adhesive and various colored material to mix with the adhesive. After you repair I concur with Don to use a vinyl conditioner.

Day 13 (I think I lost count lol)

 

Today got a couple things done.

Rebuild the Carb at work with a OEM NOS Briggs carb kit one of our local power equipment shops had left. But the carb back on with everything fully rebuilt inside including the fuel pump, Replaced the vacuum line. Changed the spark plugs and bolted the engine fully down. Also attached the throttle cable

Sorry haven’t had a chance to work on this for the past few weeks. Back to back tractor pulls just about every Friday and weekend.
 

Day 14 (But really over the course of a week and a half) :

Been working on the fenders for a few days. Decided to put Metal ones on it since I hate the plastic ones. The fenders needed ALOT off sanding, filler, primer. But is now almost there, should be fully painted by the end of the weekend. I made myself a goal of getting it at least running by Sunday of next week. Doesn’t have to be driving but I wanna hear it live again.

Day 15: (Well really Friday Saturday Monday and today (Tuesday)

 

Got the fenders for one last time primed (Friday) and now Tuesday we gave it a quick light sanding and painted them red! Fenders are now complete just have to put stickers on it and the rear lights.

Got the front rims sanded and cleaned on Friday and first coat of paint on. Today (Tuesday) got the front rims painted antique white let them sit for probaly 3 minutes went back to look at they were all cracked! My dad said the spots we didn’t get rid of all the power coating the paint got underneath it and lifted it all up. So going to let the rims sit out in the sun for a few days then sand where they cracked and hopefully paint them once again for all. 
Also since it’s now started to get cold and getting dark really early moved some stuff around in the garage and bought Mr.Kellys tractor inside of the garage.

Also forgot to say those tires and rims on the front and rear are not what I’ll be using. I’m going to put 23/10.5/12 ags on the rear and 16/6.5/8 turfs on the front

If the heims joints are all right hand tread, take the jam nuts off and they will be 1/2" shorter. Being all right hand once they are on they can't change length when bolted down.

Day 18-

Today we got the front rims and tires mounted and the bearings seated. Did what I think @ebinmaine said and took the inner seal from the bearings so I can continue to grease them.

Day 19

All over the weekend got ALOT done!

Getting to the final steps now.

Over the week me and @TonyToro mounted fuel tank, ran fuel line and fuel filter, new gas cap, got all four tires mounted onto the tractor and the rear wheel spacers installed. Filled the tractor with oil, painted all the pto rods. Installed the pto mounting bracket by the battery. Got this metallic chrome color spray can from rust oleum at katz ace. That’s what we painted the pto rods with. Also did the air filter cover that too. Added some shims to the steering so it didn’t skip teeth anymore. Put on the rear hitch and ran a new belt on it and I also painted the hydraulic lift valve handle. AndI think that was everything. Trying to get it started for the first time this week!
