quahog 14 #1 Posted June 27 OK I am struggling here : Mower deck 42 Inch as fitted to my NEW TO ME 314 -8. , Model 73448 . I am not 100 % on the year of the tractor even ! 87 ? 85 ? , manual printed in 1997. I would like to pinpoint the 42 in deck to view the owners manual this group offers. No model sticker on it. Its a new treat as it works great and I love my deckless 845 as well. This is new turf ! Please someone rescue me. quahog from cape cod
ri702bill 8,327 #2 Posted June 27 OK - are the three deck spindles original?? What size - 3/4" or 17MM ?? Does it have the curved 3 semicircle "recycler" insert near the blades. Both are helpfull to ID it correctly... Being from RI..... I thought "Quahog" was in RI, not the Cape... (if you watch "Family Guy")...

Lee1977 6,664 #8 Posted June 30 The old Double D decks have a 3/8" bolt and cupped pressure washer on both the blade and pulley. The 3/4 keyed decks have 3/4" nut on both. The newer Metric decks will have a 5/8" nut on the pulley. Once you locate the right type there isn't a lot of difference in those models.
peter lena 8,634 #9 Posted June 30 @quahog my wife's uncles would always have at least one WW2 us navy , deep cooking vats , with bubbling pork fat , for anything fried , it was to die for , the collective tastes , were amazing . family get togethers , were a regular hands on set up . always had the kids covering the elders table set up , and anything they wanted , like a regular production . would usually start on the grille , BIL take over about 45 min later , everyone would bring family favorites , we totally cleaned up and secured all of it before leaving , ice cream desert cake , and a nap , pete

I assume the deck was purchased along with the tractor a 314 - 8 serial # 8901078 . thus making the manual selection easier . I can print it from there using the list provided. quahog
