what Is the best way to get RJ hubs off

Recommended Posts

I am rebuilding the transmission on my RJ 59 and I don't want to break or hurt the hubs, what is the best way, i tried prying a bit with a screwdriver and messed up the seals, they leak anyway, but what is my best plan of action?

Look at this thread for ideas

Always pull from the back if it is stuck hard.

I removed the hubs from my 1054 last summer and patience worked for me. I took out the set screws and filled with Kroil and sprayed the shaft at the hub. Put a block of wood against the hub and hit with a 2lb. hammer at times then sprayed it with kroil again. I waited for a couple of days and checked it out and would fill the screw holes again. One day I noticed the outside of the axle  had Kroil dripping off it. Then it came off with no heat or heavy puller. I was blessed that both sides came off rather easy with Kroil and a little muscle. I cleaned the axle and hub and replaced the woodruff key and all is good now.
