Check your fluids in your vehicle on a hot day

On our way home from the big show, pulling a nice sized trailer, started losing power about 10 miles from home, truck went into limp mode.  Checked the transmission fluid, and we were a little low, so we added that, and tried again, nope still in limp mode.  Opened the hood again and looks like we are VERY low on coolant, so we have someone coming to the rescue with some coolant, but stuck sitting on the PA turnpike in 98 degree heat is definitely not ideal.  Have water and other things we need until help arrives, but lesson learned, will check all fluids before starting off when pulling a trailer.

Well not coolant and now the truck is dead with no codes to tell us what is wrong...sucks on a 98 degree day, but will do whatever. Necessary with my hubby and will wait to see if we can get this figures out

We think it is something fuel related, have my BIL here trying to help and just got it started hallelujah, but not sure if in limp mode still truck is at least cooled down...

Sorry for your misadventure. Been there, done that. It's not fun. Hope you are back on the road again soon.

Let us know what the final problem turned out to be.

We know it is fuel related, either a cracked fuel filter housing or a bad o-ring on the fuel filter, will report back tomorrow

Well it turned out to be the bleeder screw on the fuel filter namely the o-ring around the bleeder screw...such a small-time left us stranded, but we have the parts now in stock should something like it happen again...

So not the fluids exactly, but without the computer throwing a code, we didn't know 🤔 🙄

So Karen, what year/make/model vehicle did you have this problem with?

2006 Chevy Silverado with the Duramax. So pretty much every Duramax for 99-07. A 1 dollar part shut the truck down.
