need help ordering onan piston rings

im trying to order new rings for my buddys p216g for his horse but the sticker is worn and i cant see the spec. i desperately need to find what exact onan was put in the WH 416h tractor. im assuming  the tractor is the later style p216g because they only made that horse in the 90's?

all the warnings on their site are bugging me a bit. "no returns/exchange if you order the wrong rings" are you sure these are the right ones? im just parinoid lol

If the cylinder was never rebored to an oversize and you checked the width using the instructions provided, then you should be OK.  Your oil rings may be one piece and these 3 piece are better.  Did you remove the pistons yet and will you run a glaze breaker to get the cross hatch pattern?

 

Of course you could order parts from a place with Barn in its name and get totally hosed.

pistons are out they are single piece oil rings, cylinders are glazed and unbored since the pistons dont have markings to indicate that is has been, but seem to be decent enough to hoan, the bottom of the bore barely has a ridge where the rings never touched on the fresh part of  the cylinder.

not sure ive heard of any place with barn in its name though

just by looking at the old rings i can see they were definitely the thick ones. but the new ones i ordered are still slightly thinner.

worst case if i ordered the wrong rings cant i use the other style piston with my original rods and the new rings? i believe i have the old and new style pistons on hand i just dont know if the ring lands are the only difference between the two.

i guess what im trying to ask is, can i use the other pistons in my block? i think the bore and the stroke are the same but i dont know if there is anything else i should keep in mind if i slap the other of rings/pistons in.

As long as you install them in matched pairs, so the balance is maintained, you should be fine.

Keep in mind Onan did have several different styles of pistons that use the "Later" 113-0310 "Thin" 1/16" rings. Here are 3 along with 1 of the most common "Early" style pistons taking the "Thicker" 113-0314 5/64" rings. As Lynnmor stated: Any "Matched Pair" of pistons will work in the P216, P218 & P220 blocks.
