Ever seen a 16 Automatic ?… I haven’t…

I found a pic of this tractor/ Wheel Horse while on the internet surfing used tractor parts places in my area.

What can you guys tell me about it ?

1973 No name model. Basically a C-160 honestly.

Yep, what Mike said. The motion control lever is between your legs, other wise it’s the same as a C-160 Auto

I have the 12 auto.Converted the motion control to the side.I found the control between the legs to be  awkward.

I may paint this one someday,great machine

I don't mind where the motion lever is, actually I like the way it locks into neutral better.   It doesn't drift from the vibration like the one mounted on the side does.  I feel that one advantage over the my C-160.

Agreed. My GT 14 has the lever on the tunnel and does not drift like my C series will do.

Is the drift you have adjustable? 

 

 

My own 75 C160 Automatic will slow down if you're not holding the lever.. but my parent's tractor and our friend's GT1800 both stay where you set the lever.  

 

I leave mine that way on purpose.

Mine use to drift even after adjustment and worn parts on motion control,I believe worn out pump will cause this ?

I added a notched block to keep control arm stationary.

The drifting could likely be just a friction adjustment. My recently acquired 314H would drift a little at first. The motion lever is supposed to take about 6# of pressure to move. I checked it and it was only about 4#. I tightened it to 6# and all tendency to drift was gone. I used a trigger pull gauge to check it.

@Racinbob, you have a picture of what you adjusted ? I picked up a 314H in the spring and it does the same thing will drift back to slow

 

I tightened it to 6# and all tendency to drift was gone

This is on a 1996 314H Eaton 11. Of course others may be different. The 6# was in the service manual. There's also an early and late Eaton 11. This one is a late.

so it's just a matter of tightening that bolt a bit to increase the drag on the plate huh ? Once upon a time I had a trigger pull gauge I'll have to see if I can find it, push comes to shove I'll ride around with socket wrench and tweek it as i go to find the sweet spot.

That's it John. I don't see any reason an adjust by feel would be a problem. Just getting it past the drifting problem is all you're looking for.

That adjustment has nothing to do with a 16 Auto or C160.

Just don’t be tempted to put any kind of lubrication on that spot! It’s intended to run dry.
