Work Horse wireing prints

Recommended Posts

Wayne0

I'm looking for the colored prints for an '84 Work Horse GT1800 Automatic Mo# A1-18BE01.

It won't start (turn over) after replacing a hose from the pump to the valve. PO bypassed all safety switches except the brake.

TIA.

If you go to our manuals section you will find the electrical schematic there. Someone here that’s better than me at this stuff can probably post a link to it.

Thank you. We'll see what shakes out.

When we rebuilt the GT1800 for our friends I found some of the wires were faded to white unless the covering could be peeled.

As per my usual SOP/ MO I yanked most of the old stuff out and started from scratch.

Not a bad idea, Eric. Not happening in this heat though. Tractor is half apart in the yard where it died after blowing a hydro line. Oil every where (in my shoes too) . Had one made local, but the ends were kind of cobbled together. Tight fit, but it worked. De-greased it today. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Good opportunity to change the oil in the tranny too, as half is gone anyway.

On the plus side your feet are well lubricated and soft and supple.

OOK, After 5 hours of chasing wires as well as mechanical issues, O'l Rusty is back on his feet (wheels). I found several chafed wires as well as cobbled together connections.(tape!)

The main issue was the brake interlock switch is bad. Bypassed for now as the lawn looks like a hay field. Ignition switch is getting sketchy too. Doesn't always spring back to "run" from "start".

Ignition switch should be easy to source, not so sure about the brake switch. I may have to get creative.

Double check the part number of the ignition switch and order a good name brand.

I've had several "cheapoes"  last a year or whatever and go bad.

Stens is often the same switch as factory for less but even a Toro switch is less then $25.

The brake switch.... well ours wasn't on when we got the GT1800 and it's still out. There's NO kids or inexperienced riders.

I will say, I'm the ONLY one using this tractor. I'd leave the brake switch out, but knowing ME something bad will happen!

I'm going to fill the oil back up and run it for a while before changing. The old oil was a tiny bit milky, so the new fill should dilute that before a full change and filter. What are you using for a filter?
