PWL216 889 #1 Posted June 16 Hi all! A gentleman I bought a tractor from a few years ago reached out and asked if I had an interest in his family's 856 and implements. They've owned it since new, always kept it in the garage and have all the original documentation. I own primarily 300/500 Series and don't know much about the 8XX Series. It has a known carburetor issue and a broken spindle on the deck. Those are the only known issues. He's selling a lot, which includes: tractor, deck, snow blower, homemade trailer, bottom plow, disc plow, other. The seller is a great guy and if I decide to buy it, I want to make a fair offer. ri702bill 8,314 #2 Posted June 16 I'll toss out a guesstimate at $700 to $800 for the whole package. A plus - looks to be an original HL light kit. A potential big minus - the "broken spindle" on the deck. That usually happens by hitting a stationary object while mowing at WOT. Appears to have a lighter. The headlights are a good thing. The hitch pin may be too. The front axle and engine maybe different colors from the rest. "Not running" isn't optimal but it's likely a fairly easy fix. With those lights and lighter that's a $300 to $400 tractor EASILY. DECK. Unfortunately that would be considered a "parts" deck at this point. $50. SNOW BLOWER. If it's fully operational, $100 to $150. HOMEMADE TRAILER. If solid I'd guess $100 to $300 depending on materials, size, condition etc. BOTTOM PLOW. $150 to $200. DISC PLOW. I'm not sure on a two row disc. Likely $200 or more if fully functional. OTHER. CULTIVATOR tines... These usually bring $100 to $150 but it looks like there's two different types? You're at a solid $1200 to $1400 value if divided out. But you'd be doing all the work. adsm08 2,046 #6 Posted June 16 I paid $900 a few years ago for an 855, non-running, with deck and plow. Same model, just a year older. How broken is the spindle and how is it broken? Looks a little oily on the front left side of the engine. it could be a seal behind the flywheel, or just oil spilled while filling it. The inside of the right rear wheel looks oily. What does the inside of the left rear wheel look like? Also check the area where the brake shaft and input pulley go into the transmission. The transmission may need seals, or axle bearings and seals. When their oily/dirty like this, there's and increased chance the axle hub needs to be tightened. The 3/4 speed transmission is easy to work on if needed. If you can clean a carburetor, you can work on that transmission. PWL216 889 #14 Posted June 26 Well, to help the seller out (who treated me right in the past), I’m buying the whole package but will be putting it up for sale here on the forum. I can’t take on another project at the moment. The tractor and implements are in MA. Full disclosure, I’m paying $750. Given that I have to go get it, bring it back here and unload it, I’m thinking that I’ll ask $900 or $750+ a 300/400 series project tractor. I’d really like to sell it as a lot.
