lynnmor 7,308 #4 Posted June 12 (edited) From what I can see, the tractor looks pretty good. You will of course need a new seat soon and the valves are due for adjustment. The fuel filter appears to be old and it might be time to replace all fuel hose. One front tire has been replaced so it is likely other tires are dry rotted. The deck wheels need to be replaced. This is a 28 year old tractor that apparently needs the usual TLC to get it right. All the anniversary edition got you was some pretty gold things, nothing functional was changed. Up here that tractor for a $1K is OK. Not a steal but likely a reasonable purchase. I'd definitely ask the seller "Is there anything you've been meaning to do?" Any work they've known it needs but haven't gotten to. However you need to phrase it to glean the information. Knowing what Lynnmor pointed out perhaps you could negotiate kindly towards $800 ish. You will need new intake, valve cover and exhaust gaskets. The exhaust and intake needs to come off, but this would be a great time to glass bead the exhaust and paint it. Also paint the valve covers and inspect the intake manifold for leakage and gouges where the heat shields often rub. So you don't get confused, choose a valve to adjust and rotate the crankshaft till that valve is opened to its maximum amount and then rotate the crankshaft one turn. Repeat three more times. The Onan Service Manual, which you will download, has you doing a dance that has you watching for timing marks and it ain't necessary. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guy say it was his grandfathers and he doesnt know much about WH. I am going to try and look at it in person. He says he's getting alot of Interest. Offer less that the asking price---all he can do is say "no". To that, you might reply with: "well, what would you take for it?"
