Not Ready to Post in For Sale Yet - Need Advice

Recommended Posts

I know this may be a dumb question but I’ll be retiring by the end of the year, will be downsizing, and need to get rid of stuff.  I live in south Jersey and will downsize to a smaller house, townhome or condo where I won’t have to do maintenance on. Anyway, I had joined for 1 year over a decade ago, attended one show, the one near Gettysburg, and I cannot make it to sell my stuff and to be honest don’t know if it’s worth much.

At this point, I don’t want to give it away but have no idea on pricing and I’m near at the point if just get rid of it, all at once if possible. I don’t want to piece meal it and spend countless hours and days making appointments, etc.  Not looking for top price. Just take it all, please.  I originally had a 267 but gave it to my son-in-law whom couldn’t keep it running and I didn’t have the time to help much.

I later purchased a 520-HC that was running at the time but has a slow leak of the hydro(trans or is it rear end?) fluid that sat in my garage for 5 or 6 years leaking fluid till I moved it outdoors the last 3 or 4 years.  Battery is bad bought a new one but never installed it.  I know, I know. Never got around to it and eventually just purchased a working older JD for snowblowing.

Regardless, I have the snowblower, blade and mower (mower not in great shape) all of which I never used, all all for the 520-HC and all have been sitting outside except the snowblower which was set outdoors same time as the tractor.  I’ve got some extra parts too a small box or two.

Anyway, I haven’t but I can inventory everything and take pics. I may have other parts I could retrieve from my SIL perhaps a blade and snowblower for the 267 as well,  We had the bigger mower deck once upon a time. The question beyond doing the basic minimum, I don’t want to set a price for individual items. Do you think I could just ask for a price for the entire lot?  I don’t know what to ask but am thinking keeping it around or under the price I paid for the 520-HC.  Does that sound reasonable?  Any suggestions appreciated.

Post it up any way you want…one big package or individual items. No rules on what’s best.
My recommendation is to make a 520 package and a 267 package. The attachments don’t interchange so keep each machine and its attachments separate.
And of course, please use the classifieds for selling when you decide to make the move.

c-series don

The only way we can help you come up with a fair price is with pictures, the more the better. I don’t think anyone can give an estimate without seeing the condition. The HC should have an hour meter on it, does it work and what does it read?

Thanks to both of you.  I’ll see if I can get it running over the next week or two and post some pics.  It used to run but because of the leak I didn’t let it run long and just started it to move it,  I’ll charge up the new battery, drain and refill the gas and see what happens.
