muz123 1,192 #1 Posted June 6, 2024 I replaced my old 520-8 drive belt with a new one as the old drive belt was cracking. I installed the new belt a (Toro 114895) 83"L x 0.63"W. Now the tractor won't shift into gear and grinds the gears when trying to shift when the clutch pedal is fully depressed, and the clutch pedal vibrates constantly(Bounces back and forth). I also replaced the clutch spring thinking this would solve the problem but it did not. I am not sure where to go next. Any advice would be great! squonk 41,595 #2 Posted June 6, 2024 Make sure the pulleys are rust free and the guard is on right. Also sometimes a new belt is a tad sticky. Put it in 3rd gear drive it down the street and depress the clutch pedal a bit to "ride the clutch " and wear in the belt sides a little. I have had to do this a couple of times.

Did not work! still will not go into gear without the gears grinding. So I ordered a new drive belt again for it with the #79-2500 part number. What else could be the issue?? The clutch spring is brand new. Not sure what else to do

Not sure what else to do Are you sure the belt is routed properly? There's a tab beside the idler pulley that is supposed to "brake" the belt when the pedal is depressed, and it's possible to assemble with the belt on the wrong side of the tab.
