Agree. I've got some like those pictured and a set with the rotating sockets. Of course, if they are meant for a different use, I will have learned something new. It is a hog ring pliers, but has found many other uses. This is tool is also used by surgeons to close wounds. Did they use stitches or staples on you Lynn? Did they use stitches or staples on you Lynn? They actually used large fish hooks left over from his tuna fishing trip and Novocaine that didn't do a thing. Just this morning I had an appointment with the plastic surgeon and he removed a stitch that was to be internal but popped out the surface 3/8" There was one area that didn't numb at all and that was the only serious pain thru the whole ordeal. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

squonk 41,067 #23 Posted June 4 (edited) I used to do a lot of upholstery work at a Chrysler garage. Those pliers don't look like the hog ring pliers I had. I was happy to see them sold to another fellow a few years back. Hated working on those cheap bucket seats. Anyone over 6 foot and 220 would destroy the seat frames . Actually @8ntruck was sort of correct. I have a pair of pliers that I bought off of the Cornwell Tools truck in 79 for getting the wire hose clamps off of those old Oldsmobiles. They look exactly like Ed's pliers. The ring around the handles is to lock the pliers in the closed position when expanding a clamp.
