I have a set of fenders I removed from a 61 suburban 401 and they have a small flare that I've never seen before. Are they wheel horse? They exactly match a set of suburban fenders without the flare.  I need an expert!

Looks like someone tossed them through a bead roller.  Sweet!

:WRS:

None of us worked at the Wheel Horse factory in 1960 so it is only speculation, but       :confusion-shrug:         they may have stamped a few with that flare. They are nice looking fenders.

I'll agree with @Pullstart.  Somebody probably made that with a bead roller.

To stamp that when originally making the fender would have required a separate operation or a cam die. Both add cost to the part - unlikely in 1960, given the thrifty habits of those running the company at the time.

Very intersting. If someone did it they did an impressive job.  I was convinced it was factory it looked that good.  Thanks for the input.  Never know what you're going to see with these cool machines!

Going to try to get them on a tractor I'm taking to the show. Good conversation piece!
