NO, thank you for your post and the breakdown of the parts.  Any and all information is great and helping us to make wise decisions when repairing our equipment.   :text-thankyoublue:

You need to put a good coat of epoxy paint on the housing to keep the acid from eating away at them.

Toby,

Thank You for sharing this with us. Here I thought I was helping review a new item to the market and you are 400 hours in. I apologize for my posts today since the water is all ready under the bridge. I was going to install the spindles and test them, but you have that done for us. Great to hear they I working well, I see no major difference between the OEM and the 8TEN.
Sorry to all for the waste of bandwidth! I meant well, and just thought it was an economic benefit.
Heck at least maybe more know they are available! Once again I apologize for covering something already explored.

I am relatively new here, and will do more research before making a post.

Steve

Hello Steve. I sincerely appreciate all this information as I too have two 48" and two 42". I am wondering what to do with the center dual groove pulley as mine is very rough and I'm guessing when I go to pull it off I will destroy it. Any thoughts on the dual pulley replacement? Anvil

Just put 3 of these on my 42” SD model 78345

all of the pulleys are wrong, they all came the same size and not double pulley

Anvil, The pulleys that come with the spindles although nice were the wrong dimension, too large. I do believe they sell the same spindle with a smaller pulley but can’t confirm the dimensions

On my deck, I had the same problem as you do. The double pulley was worn so thin that it was impossible to continue use. I bought 2 separate pulleys at McMaster Carr and machined the cores so the two pulleys could have the separation as the original. They are not keyed, just sandwiched by the nut. Have not had any issues since installing them. The pulleys seem to be made out a heftier material than what I took off. Many pulleys fit that shaft dimension. I was thinking of trying to increase the blade speed with a smaller drive pulley. I might play around with that!

Hope this helps.

Steve

Thank you Steve. I was concerned with what came with the new spindles but haven't had a chance to take measurements. Thanks for the tip on McMaster Carr. I forgot about them. Is the center spindle shaft any different than the end shafts in length for the double pulley? Thanks again. Anvil

Anvil,

All of the spindles have the same length shaft. The spindle shaft has a long reach on the threads. Long enough to handle 1 or 2 pulleys. On a single pulley spindle, the nut goes way down the threaded shaft. On a double pulley the nut parks towards the top of the threaded shaft. All are 5/8 inch for the drive side..

Hope this helps,

Steve
