WHX??

I guess I never heard of a plug shorting out. Fouling out yes.

A pic of the plug will tell us how the motor is burning fuel.

Proper plug? Should be a H-10 champion or equal.

Not overheating cooling fins clean?

Any smoke at start or under load? Black or white?

Check the gap of your ignition points, it should be 0.020"    If the gap is not correct yout ignition timing will be off and may result in poor performance and carbon build-up.

Not fouled but complete loss of spark at the plug. Second H10 in 6 months. Change the plug and spark is restored. The first plug was probably 30yrs old and I understand that, but the second is a few months. I’ll post a picture of the plug later.

She doesn’t really smoke to much after warming up. Its original engine and carburetor and really haven’t been touched. Amazing how it still runs as good as it does 59yrs old

Yes H10 and no overheating.

A puff of black smoke at start could be from choking. More and the mixture is too rich.

Blue/white smoke is burning oil--not conducive to long plug life.

A mismatched plug could be in the wrong heat range and would work poorly or fail after working for a while.

Especially with Chumponions.

Some guys here don't like them & prefer Autolites. Personally I have never had issues with Chumps.

mismatched plug could be in the wrong heat range

Says he is using H 10s.

Well I might as well try an Autolite, maybe it will keep it lit. Anyone know the plug number in Autolite?

Just put a fresh Autolite 216 in the Horse. Fired right up, now to see how long it will last.
Thank you gentlemen!
