W9JAB 156 #1 Posted August 30, 2009 Picked up a blower (Thank you Pat) but the mounting will not work on my tractor. As a pix is worth more than my typing please take a look. What mount to I need and can it be had or do I need to cobble some thing togather my self? :scratchead:
Buzz 502 #4 Posted August 30, 2009 It's been awhile since I had a blower on my 856 but I'll try to help. Go to the Toro site: https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro Enter model # 6-2211. When that opens look at part numbers 52 and 53 in the drawing. They are a long bolt with 2 bushings. In your second photo you can see the hole in the tractor frame where the bolt goes through and acts as the pivot point. The latch in your third picture wasn't used at all in the set-up I had. Good luck, hope it helped.
catman81056 3 #5 Posted August 30, 2009 You need the front attach bracket for your tractor. I took this off of an Electro 12 and put it on my 1267. The oldest tractor I have is the 1267, obvisously the the mounting on older tractors is different. Since Buzz has that model and used a blower on it I think what he posted would be correct. I was taking the pic while he posted.
clintonnut 126 #6 Posted August 30, 2009 Looks like you are missing a bracket that goes on each side. Someone will provide a pic but I have the same snowblower and the brackets mount on each side of the frame rail. Charlie
Buzz 502 #7 Posted August 30, 2009 You need the front attach bracket for your tractor. I took this off of an Electro 12 and put it on my 1267. Don't forget the 856 is a short frame and yours are long frame Tim
catman81056 3 #8 Posted August 30, 2009 I had to edit my post after reading yours Buzz. :scratchead:
Rollerman 290 #9 Posted August 30, 2009 Actually it looks like most the parts are there. Like Buzz mentioned you have a long bolt with bushings that runs through the snow blowers frame & the forward holes at the tractor frame..."where you have your oil drain zip tied" There should be an idler pulley that bolts to the frame just forward of the engine pulley also. Do you have the lift rod assembly for it?
W9JAB 156 #10 Posted August 30, 2009 I have the lift bar, but need the Flag & bar part.
Buzz 502 #11 Posted August 30, 2009 I had to edit my post after reading yours Buzz. I remember scratching my head the first time. I had the bolt but not the bushings. I was able to get them from the dealer at that time. Not sure if they're still available. I'd have no clue on how to mount one to a long frame.......... :hide:
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #12 Posted August 30, 2009 Here's the IPL: LINK Here's a 6-2211 mounted on an 876: I didn't use the extra idler and it worked fine. I do have it here somewhere and will dig it out for pics later. The tractor and thrower are both gone.

There ae additional photos of the hitch on the site, search around and you will find them including a project that involved converting one of the newer (and more common) hitches for use with older frames. It looks like you will be able to get it to work :scratchead:
Rollerman 290 #14 Posted August 31, 2009 Get a peice of 3/8" all thread & cut it to the length you need. "wider than the snow blower frame" Get a couple 3/8"X3/4" bushings at a hardware or farm supply store & bolt the blower on the front of the tractor like it's ment to. No front attach a matic needed. I use a similiar snow blower for a 1055 & a Lawn Ranger. No it's not as handy as a front attach a matic or quick tach. Should get you going though. Once it's on the tractor we can work on the belt routing & lift rod/flag.
