They manufactured structural steel, sheet steel, steel pipes, ornamental iron, furnaces, boilers, and specialty castings. In 1960 they became the parent company of United Tractor with George A. Sivore as company president. Sivore was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and began building specialized tugs for the military and later branched out to include industrial tugs to move heavy loads in factories. These heavy-duty tugs were powered by the reliable Chrysler slant six engine and their 727 automatic transmission. The new division was moved to nearby Chesterton, IN, and operated as a sperate entity as United Tractor Incorporated. In 1968 United Tractor was purchased by American Industries Corporation and subsequently bought by Wedge Products in 1982 and by Kalamazoo Manufacturing in 1988.
