418 Shutoff Valve

Recommended Posts

This is the original valve off my 88’, as you see in the picture the seal is SHOT. Would this be a specialty part or would I be able to get it from a parts store like NAPA or O’Reilly’s? All responses are appreciated :)

My best piece of advice is:

Do NOT just get a cheapo off the fleeebay.

I've had several leaking after very short terms.

Call or look up Aircraft Spruce Company.

They sell AIRCRAFT quality.

@Easton Rich   like to use , SUPER LUBE , silicone lube on that  insert fit  , also if you can direct upward pressure , makes it simple   also have a filter close to tank another close to carb . changing fuel line ? pete

Switch to a fuel shut off with a screen.  I use cub cadet parts from my local dealer.

I changed the line a month or so ago, and I also put two inline filters in. I will look into the valve with the screen

I disagree with the screen thing. Get one without a screen & run an inline fuel filter. Easier to see if it needs to be changed and easier to change.

yes the very fine screen on the original is much easier to get clogged, crimped, or broken.  The inline fuel filter after the valve in the fuel line is a great idea.

2 Inline filters are the way to go..............   The fine screen is nothing but problems down the road.................MY .02 cents..... from experience

change to a good fuel line also ,       the conventional Black Rubber is an issue due to the garbage fuel they call gasoline we get nowadays !!   , it breaks down internally.

@Easton Rich  ,  been using this for years now , no debris , no fuel hose break down , 2 fuel filters  on my 3 horses , zero , carbuncle's  in filters or in carb bowls ,  https://www.walmart.com/ip/STA-BIL-22208-Fuel-Stabilizer-8oz/16879745?   add  1 oz  to every fuel  tank  top off after cutting , since regularly adding this to my fuels , have had  no fuel issues .  regularly experiment with an issue , verify every stage of it , and change it . never let my tanks go low / empty , refill right after cutting , add stabil  every time . changed out all my fuel lines / related years back , since then , zero  fuel hose break down , filters clean / clear , what am I  doing wrong ?/ ?,  that STS BIL storage , has done it for me . by carb bowles are all , clean / clear , what is that telling you  ? also check my trans oil dip stick / same time , full / clean / clear . no rust or water . what am I doing wrong ? make a change to a consistent problem , track it down , just some suggestions , nothing sarcastic , regular issues , lead to  , elimination , pete
