QUIET muffler

Good Day All

A recent purchase of an 857 has me looking for a QUIET muffler. My bride want to mow grass with this machine (when I locate a decent deck) and a QUIET muffler is a must.

Back in the day I acquired a Nelson muffler for the Raider 12. The part # is 2157634SM (I know it's a Briggs {Simplicity} part but it plays well with the Kohler).

Unfortunately that muffler is NLA. Is there any decent mufflers that can be made to work (and still look somewhat stock)?

Attached are a couple of pics of the Raider 12 Muffler:

Search Gravely 18543 on the interwebs.

I've used those on several tractors.

I have a Nelson N786 like the pic below on my 867. It's a nice quiet muffler. Also has brackets to easily fab a brace for it.

Oodles of them on Ebay for decent prices.

Good Morning

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question.

I have several mufflers saved in my 'Watch List' on Fleabay. Once I get the 857 home (Friday) I can pursue the muffler question further.

Priorities are to get the JD cleaned up and running so it can go away, then install the replacement flywheel on the 857 (original had a chunk broken out of the hub - I have no idea why). then get it running and cleaned up.

Would like to find a 36" deck as my bride want to use it to mow.
