TheMooseIsLoose 8 #1 Posted May 19 I have a 1988 516H that I cannot get my transaxle to move by hand when I pull lever up to disengage. I have heard that this particular transaxle is very difficult to move freely. Ant thoughts, thank you.
Ed Kennell 38,598 #2 Posted May 19 The lever only disengages the drive belt. It does nothing to free the transmission. The Eaton 700s are nearly impossible to push. Towing or pushing with power will damage the transmission. Best to raise the rear wheels and use a dolly to move it. Lifting one wheel with a wheeled floor jack will also work. You only need to lift one wheel as the raised wheel will spin backwards as you push forward.
TheMooseIsLoose 8 #3 Posted May 20 Thank You for responding, I had an idea this was true. I guess I will invest in a pair of dollies to avoid any damage. 1

That I could push my 518-H by hand pretty easily told me my 700 was pretty much shot! Replaced with an 1100 and got hydraulics in the bargain!
