Recommended Posts

Howdy! Anyone have a source for the PTO safety switch pictured? I checked K&B and WPAM and didn’t see anything. Thx!

A while ago I found them at a hardware store. I was not looking for them at the time, but stumbled upon them. I should have bought a few but didn’t. Maybe your local hardware store has them? I guess it’s worth a shot?

Dayum, that looks just like the brake switch on my Work Horse!

What is the original part number of the switch?

I believe there is more than one version.

If you can't find one, or in the meantime until you do, can you just solder a tab on the broken piece or solder the wire directly to it?

Google appliance door switch.  images  You may find the one you need that way or do some searching here on the forum.  The part you need is an appliance part.

@lynnmor I found the ones pictured below online. They are for a refrigerator.
So I thought, now that I know what I’m looking for, I’ll stop at my local hardware store and see if they have any. And they did. Would you happen to know if this is a normally open or normally closed switch?

@wallfish The tab is broken internally, I believe. It’s tests as an open circuit with the switch lever in or out.

Just an educated guess here, I think that it would be a normally open switch.  My sketchy memory says the PTO switch is between the ignition switch and the starter relay.

Thanks for the advice. My switch is on a C-101, 8 speed. It's a four prong contact base, that goes down through the frame with a spring (plunger) ...not sure the others would work, but wirth a try and thank you for answering.

I’m guessing this is probably the one you need? You may want to reach out to Dale‘s mower service at 610-756-6453. He may have one. There was a gentleman at the show called Redman, I believe. He may also have one. I had to buy one used because I couldn’t find a new one.

Yes, the 104680 is the correct PTO safety switch. But thanks, to all for your replies. There is one also, just like THIS ONE...that's mounted on a little 1/2" steel bar with screw holes in both ends, with the switch mounted through a hole in the middle: Thus, not letting the switch push "upward" when you work the PTO for the mower, etc. I think the C-125's and some others used the one with the bar, but the "guts" of the switch like above, is the same. Again, I appreciate your help. Still have not been able to find one...from anyone. Waiting to hear from A to Z, down by Reading, Pa...and also K and B, in Sunbury Pa. K and B sold me a really great brake plate that fit right on. Nice folks... got lost getting there but it was worth the trip down. Best wishes, Johnny O.

P.S. But...still don't have one. have it bypassed temporarily to move it around the shop..but need to get a switch to adhere to the purpose of it. If you run across one? Please give me a shout. Thanks again.
