PWL216 889 #1 Posted May 18 Picked up a C-85 yesterday and noticed it has what looks like a factory cutout in the floorboard. I’ve never seen it before. Anyone know if it’s factory and what it’s for?
Pullstart 62,881 #2 Posted May 18 Huh. Some tillers had various routings.. maybe?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,045 #3 Posted May 18 Early tillers used a drive belt that went through there. Surprised to see the cutout on a C-85 which is 1980 and newer. 4
c-series don 8,707 #4 Posted May 18 That was also used for PTO driven grass/leaf vacuums. The inside pulley on the PTO runs the mower deck and the outside runs the vacuum. There’s an additional set of pulleys that would mount to the tractor inside the rear wheel. The additional holes in the footrest are for the belt guard. 6

My C-145 has the same cut out in the running board. I also have a guard for it. The fade line shows where the guard was mounted at one time.

Always thought that it was for some type of rear attachment, but didn't know what attachment. Figured I would wait till info showed up on here.

Racinbob 11,081 #12 Posted May 19 First for me too. I know the 7-1211 tiller didn't use that. They used a two belt setup that had an idler pully mounted to the frame just in front of the tranny. A belt from the engine hooked up to it then a second belt wert to the tiller. But they required moving the footrest out to clear the belt and a second guard. It was a pain to install. I modified my 7-1211 using the later, under the engine idler and a single belt ran like the later models. Worked great on my 76. I can see the possibility of Wheel Horse trying out a different setup at some point during those years and used that slotted footrest but I've never seen it. I'd like to.
peter lena 8,627 #13 Posted May 19 @PWL216 also have a C-85 , bought new in 82, never saw a floor board like that , immediately , thought it was just a damage replacement @Achto , noticing your plow squeeze lever point , done a lot of detailing in that area , the tighter you snug up the lever connecting rod loop ends / lubricate , the better , the steering pull pin on the steering quadrant works, like a spray red grease , also on PTO outer swing arm clip end ,round loop added a extension spring to t , to frame hitch pin clamp , stops the rattling / buzzing noise. that related lever rod set up is a gold mine for improvements , basically very solid smooth operation . nothing sarcastic or offended implied , just stuff I have done , lubrication , and lever movement detailing , make that plow swing with total ease , pete

I'm sure it was low range something. The soil we were on back then was heavy rocky clay and didn't till easy.
