Aftermarket mower deck complete spindles

Recommended Posts

c100rider

Hello everyone. I'm looking to replace my 3 deck spindles. I have a 74 c100. I had rebuilt the old stock but im not satisfied. Any information on where to get a complete set of mower deck spindles with pulleys? My deck is a 42 inch SD, model number 51010 8.

When I activate the blades, it sounds really bad. There is a lot of vibration. The spindle shafts move slightly up and down.

Have you checked the blades are squarely seated.  Have you balanced the blades?  YouTube has some videos of simple ways to do it without expensive equipment.

@c100rider  also check out  related idler pulleys ,  that vertical  spindle shaft float is indicating a bearing issue  /  binding , lots of typical lubrication failure related to that set up . also related is the idler belt bounce , reaction . the more bounce the more  collective bearing hang up . the smoother a deck belt rotates , the smoother the idler  pulley set up reacts , with solid smooth  tracking .  decks will literally tell what's going on . hi temp / stress grease , makes a world of difference . pete

I have a blade balancer so I know the blades are good.

Can't speak for the sound, but it was somewhat common over the years for these decks to have periods of neglect that resulted in rust damage to the shafts in the bottom where the needle bearings made contact.

Makes for an awful roaring sound, but turning the spindles by hand is smooth. No amount of grease will completely stop the sound, though there is a temporary small improvement after greasing the spindle.

Thanks for the advise. I will do that. I'm still looking to upgrade so I don't have to worry about it
