Any adverse issues with my new pets?

The problem is that their and other wild animals habitat is gone around here. My street is basically the only one left with any type of wilderness or tree covered areas. They have no where to go. People are also always applying all kinds of animal deterrent products. They don’t want mosquitoes, gnats, squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs, deer etc, etc. I hear it all the time. The companies that provide services against all of them are making a killing around here and at the same time poisoning every square inch. This is the only safe area for them. Why else would two families totaling 10 individuals have dens next to each other and herds of 20 plus deer hang out in my back yard?

 I guess my new chore here is going to walk the property every morning gathering animal parts.

Just be aware of any strange behavior.   My son had to undergo the rabies shots when a raccoon came into his garage through the cat door.

Mike went to the garage in his bare feet to get a soda when the bandit bit him and escaped through the cat door.

I'm at the end of the village with a mix of small and large lots and while there are some very large parcels with little development nearby, we still see the “wildlife” trying to survive in the more suburban, populated spaces. There is constant pressure to adjust the zoning to permit higher and higher density and “fill in” open spaces.

And don’t get me started on all the companies that think routing high-voltage lines laid on the Hudson riverbed is a great idea.

"Green" energy transmission needed for our mandated EV future... those lines need to go somewhere... Or Not.

Go to Europe... centuries older, with clearly defined urban and rural / farming areas... unfortunately they're picking up our land use errors... 

 

Foxes, coyotes, deer etc. are remarkable adapters... i'm guessing they are equally appalled at our "debris" we leave all over their homes...

I’ve spent a lot of time there. Land use is very tightly controlled to keep contiguous open space (originally for agriculture but now also for environmental protection) and denser housing. Strongly aided by better public transportation (trains & buses) and fewer/smaller cars (less parking & road space needed). Pretty much all anathema to the “American way of life."

Don’t be so quickly impressed. Of course some countries adhere to their own regulations more than others but if one actually lives there for a substantial amount of time what actually goes on becomes evident. Fewer smaller car yes, but 99% of them are diesel and older. Diesel scent is at least obvious to me in most cities. Or hanging behind a loaded truck going uphill trying to pass it? Not a pleasant thing. 
 Rampant also is the irresponsible overuse of pesticides and herbicides. Sure it is highly regulated. But not enforced or adhered to. What about the constant burning of trash by many individuals in the country side? Many actually started by pouring old oil into the pile. 
   And space dedicated to environmental protection! Spaces designated as green areas in which one cannot build. Nice, however most owners do not farm so they become unkept and overgrown leading to the yearly forest fires. Then they are fined for it and eventually government seizes land. Now they have to clean it themselves. Guess who pays for that. That is why there is a 23% sales tax rate in some countries.

 Like the old saying “ the grass is always greener on the other side of fence”. Upon closer inspection however, there are many bare spots.

Absolutely right Ed. Doing what is natural to them for survival. I was a little upset they got the newly born Bambi. Have to keep certain facts from the other half however as to not upset her.
